An ongoing discussion among screenwriters who are committed to improving their craft. Our moderator, Sal Litvak, is a working writer-director. Carmel's Loop

This free research listserve (which grew out of the fomrer Painted Rock Research List following list founder Carmel Thomaston's untimely demise) is for writers, researchers and others needing questions answered. It has topics for seeking information, posting found information, receiving articles and discussing materials, books, CDs and other research media. Comments are not screened before they are posted. Members are expected to be courteous. No harassment, foul language, or flaming are allowed. Carmel's Loop reserves the right to remove anyone from a list whose actions injure others or reduce the enjoyment of the other list members. Digest version available.

CritPal

CritPal is a free service for novelists who want to find critique partners. You do your own "matchmaking" by placing an ad in The CritPal Post and by checking the ads others have placed. To facilitate the process of selection, a sample chapter from each writer is archived in the CritPal Files. (Only members have access to The CritPal Post and to the chapters in Files. (See Privacy/Rights.) Membership is open to novelists working at any level of experience--in literary, mainstream, or any genre. Each time a new member joins CritPal, The CritPal Post is updated and the membership notified. CritPal members may advertise their books on this site (page to be developed) and/or provide links to their own Web site.

GreatScripts is a discussion list designed for screenwriters to discuss methods of creating great scripts and doing a great job of marketing them. Horror Authors

A list for writers in the horror and dark fantasy genre. Digest version available. Members are eligible to participate in an online critique group. The Rules: 1.You must review two stories for every one story you post. 2.You must be a member of the mailing list to be a member of the writers group. 3.You may post your story on a special site with password protection or post it on your own site and send the home page administrator a link. 4.Reviews must be professional; any "flaming" or excessively derogatory comments will not be tolerated. 5.Enjoy! Inkies

Word Spinner's Ink (Inkies) Fiction Writers is a 15-year-old group of professional, mostly-published, fiction writers with good connections to publishers and the writing world. Membership is free and open to published and non-published writers. Published writers are admitted automatically. Unpublished writers may submit a very brief writing sample. Membership includes access to a private web site and a group of private discussion lists corresponding to areas of special interests. Also included is an optional writer's workshop. Inksplatters

For writers and publishers online. Paying markets, online writing (telecommuting) jobs, articles, websites, contests, tips and other resources will be posted to the list. The Novelists

A place for very, very serious writers to gather in order to talk about the process of writing novels. Some of us are published, others are soon to be published, some are still working on their manuscripts, some have written screenplays and had them optioned and are here because they want to explore a new form. SCRNWRiT

A longstanding discussion list for screenwriters of all levels of experience. In case you are wondering what to expect from this list and are shocked at the volume mail you receive, (as much as 100 + per day -- not always, but it does happen) let me assure you that this is normal. Short Mystery

The purpose of this list is to promote the growing short mystery genre for both readers and writers. Communication takes place through the ShortMystery mailing list.

Unpublished Writers

Your writing hasn't found acceptance yet? Keep writing. Keep submitting your writing. And share your experiences with fellow unpublished writers and published writers here.

Webcinema

A nonprofit organization dedicated to the independent filmmaker using internet new media technologies to finance, create, produce, co-produce, distribute, and market independent film. The Webcinema list is an unmoderated discussion list of hundreds professional filmmakers, producers, agents, entertainment lawyers, studio executives worldwide. It's the largest online film community of its kind and increases by 20% a month, becoming a cultural phenomena for net savvy filmmakers, the de facto standard in wired filmmaking.

Subscribers discuss the latest digital film technologies, make direct contact with distributors and agents, buy and sell film equipment, promote their films and projects, do business, get money for film, produce and co-produce with partners from all over the network, and it's free. The local lists are devoted to discussion and postings of a local nature, such as request for cast and crew, for sale notices, location and production request, and local film related events.
